Leonard Shostak – President and Lead Consultant
The founder and President of L&D Computer
Consulting Corp., Eagle Scout and entrepreneur Leonard Shostak, has
been
helping organizations improve their business processes
through effective use of technology since 1992. Prior to starting
L&D, Leonard managed a kosher pizzeria and catering business. He
consults on all aspects of business management, telecommunications, and
computing. Leonard is a recognized expert on remote access
technologies and has been an expert court witness on
email authenticity. A member of the board of the New York LAN
Association, Leonard has been interviewed and quoted
by Inc. Magazine,
Newsday, and the BBC News, as well as in leading technology industry
publications.
Leonard Shostak graduated from Queens College with a BS in Computer
Science, and has led courses, seminars, and team-building exercises
for Queens College, the New School, the American Management
Association, the Independent Computer
Consultants Association, and New York University. Leonard is active in
several New York city business networking groups, and founded the
networking and fundraising venture A Networking Event Made in
Heaven. He enjoys organizing
and emceeing events
for community and business groups, and is available for speaking
engagements.
In addition to his business activities, Leonard is a jam band
fan who finds time to attend festivals and hear live music with friends
and family,
including sponsoring the Celebrate
Brooklyn concert series in Prospect
Park. He also enjoys year-round camping with family and friends.

David Secrest – System
Administrator
Originally from Illinois, David has lived in Miami Beach, New Orleans,
New Jersey, and New York City. He has extensive programming
experience in Lotus Notes, relational databases, Unix, and web
development, as well as expertise in system and network administration,
MS
Excel, and MS Access. Database projects David has developed include
workflow for
product development and customer support, and databases for tracking
regulatory compliance, customer service, project development, employee
attendance, and contact management. In addition, he has developed
projects in document conversion,
content management, and Y2K readiness for companies such as Ernst &
Young, Bristol Myers Squibb, Educational Testing Service, New York
Life, IBM, and AT&T. In addition to his broad programming
experience, David has worked in research and teaching, restaurants,
finance, sales, and customer service, and managed his own firm, UpTop
Development Corp., from 1997-2003.
David's educational background includes degrees in physics from the
University of Illinois and Princeton University, where he was a
National Science Foundation graduate fellow, and improvisational acting
classes.

Steve Rey – Technician
Steve has 20 years of experience in the restaurant industry and has
been in the computer consulting business since joining
L&D in 1999. In his current role at L&D, Steve focuses on
wiring
offices, setting up servers, workstations, and audio/video equipment,
and troubleshooting
problems related to them. In his spare time, he likes – guess what? –
tinkering with computer and video hardware! Steve hails from New York
state and has amassed 90 college credits in a variety of
subjects, with a focus on architecture.

Bryan May – Technician
Plainview native Bryan May earned his Bachelor of
Business Administration degree in Business Computer Information Systems
from
Hofstra University, where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Mu
fraternity. Prior to joining L&D in 2003, Bryan worked as an
interactive project
coordinator, consultant, and network technician for a Long Island
company that offers image enhancement
services to business and organizations.
Bryan enjoys driving with the top down (preferably in a Dodge Viper),
rock and heavy metal bands, techno clubs, swimming, and of course, Jack
Daniels. His favorite foods are steak and Greek pizza, and he
recommends the Pizza Booth on Bleecker for the best pizza in New York
City.

Jean Gazis – Marketing Manager
Jean has nearly twenty years of experience as a marketer, writer, and
project manager in internal and external communications for publishing
and
technology firms. Her freelance clients have included
several publishers, direct marketers, consulting firms, web startups,
and nonprofit organizations. Jean has also held managerial marketing
positions at leading publishing and technology companies, both
privately held and public, and as a volunteer for the Taproot Foundation.
Jean has a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the Johns
Hopkins University. She has taken additional courses in Advertising
Copywriting, Fiction Writing, Copyediting, and art. She enjoys reading,
writing, word games and puzzles, live music, wine, and the great
outdoors.
